Free, discounted admission at museums, art galleries from May 17 to 19

A total of 145 museums and 73 art galleries across Shanghai will offer free or discounted admission from May 17 to 19, as part of the celebrations marking the launch of the 2025 Shanghai Cultural Heritage Festival.

According to the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, this year’s festival will center around International Museum Day on May 18 and China’s Cultural and Natural Heritage Day, observed annually on the second Saturday of June since 2006.

Among the major exhibitions opening to the public free of charge are the Ancient Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Gallery at Shanghai Museum East, the Zhou Bichu Art Exhibition at SPSI Art Museum, and an exhibition featuring young artists from the Yangtze River Delta at Haipai Art Museum in suburban Qibao.
