Shanghai east rail hub enters above-ground construction phase
Construction of the Shanghai East Railway Station has moved into its above-ground structural phase, following the completion of underground engineering work, according to the project's management.
Located in Zhuqiao town, Pudong New Area, the station sits within the core functional area of the Shanghai Eastern Hub, approximately five kilometers from Terminal 1 of Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
The Shanghai East Railway Station features a unique design. It is the first in China to integrate national railway and municipal railway systems into a single elevated station. The main station building will consist of three levels above ground and four levels below, accommodating a total of 15 platforms and 30 rails.
As a primary passenger hub within Shanghai's railway network plan, the Shanghai East Railway Station is slated to connect to several major lines connecting cities in the Yangtze River Delta, including the second phase of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway, the Shanghai-Zhapu-Hangzhou Railway, the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou high-speed railway, and the Nanjingnan-Taicang high-speed railway.
