Shanghai, Almaty establish friendship city ties
Shanghai and Almaty — Kazakhstan's largest city — signed an agreement to establish a friendship city relationship at the second China-Central Asia Summit held from June 16 to 18.
According to the agreement, Shanghai and Almaty will cooperate in various fields, including economy, trade, science, technology, education, culture, health, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, with the goal of promoting shared prosperity and development.
The two cities will open a direct air route in July, further enhancing regional connectivity and facilitating business and cultural exchanges between them.
The friendship city partnership is expected to deepen bilateral cooperation between Shanghai and Almaty and help strengthen ties within the broader China–Central Asia community.
