Shanghai launches 1 yuan weekly transit pass, pet-friendly routes
Shanghai's integrated green travel platform "Mobility as a Service" (MaaS), or Suishenxing, has teamed up with Alipay to launch a one yuan (about 14 cents) weekly pass for buses and subways from June 23 to 29, encouraging low-carbon commuting among residents.
Users can access the pass by logging into Alipay and searching for "Energy Conservation Awareness Week (节能宣传周)". They can also scan the QR code below to apply for the pass.
A key highlight of the campaign is the introduction of pet-friendly travel routes, enhancing the city's commitment to inclusive mobility.
From June 23 to July 31, users who book a "pet-friendly custom route" via the "SH MaaS" app or "Suishenxing" WeChat mini program can receive a random gift by saying the code phrase "Energy Conservation Awareness Week" when boarding with their pets.
Shanghai is also encouraging residents to propose personalized bus routes as part of its low-carbon transit initiative. Suishenxing will reward the first 10 users whose proposed new routes are officially adopted before Aug 31.
How to customize your bus route:
Step 1: Log into the Suishenxing platform (or via the "SH MaaS" app or Suishenxing WeChat mini program)
Select "Customized Bus" and enter the "I Want to Customize – Personal Route" channel.
Step 2: Set up your requirements
Submit details like departure/destination points, travel frequency, and preferred arrival time.
Tips:
You can also share your customized route and invite friends to join, gathering more commuters for the same line.
