Shanghai Metro launches extra late-night trains from Pudong airport
To better serve late-night travelers this summer, the Shanghai Metro has added special late-night shuttle trains on Line 2, with departures from Shanghai Pudong International Airport every Friday and Sunday.
Starting July 4 and running through Aug 31, two additional trains now depart at 10:45 pm and 11 pm from Pudong Airport Terminals 1 and 2, just after the regular last train leaves at 10:30 pm.
These limited-stop services offer a direct ride into downtown Shanghai. They stop only to drop off passengers at Longyang Road, Century Avenue, People's Square, and Zhongshan Park. Boarding is only available at Pudong Airport, ensuring a faster and smoother journey for inbound travelers.
The initiative, announced by Shanghai Shentong Metro Group, aims to reduce congestion and meet the growing demand from late-arriving air passengers.
In addition, Metro Line 9 has introduced early-morning two-way shuttles at Songjiang Railway Station during the summer travel season. These pilot trains operate earlier than the usual first departures and adjust schedules in response to real-time passenger flow, helping railway travelers connect more efficiently to the Metro network.
