With the opening of Legoland Shanghai Resort, Jinshan district is launching 20 key initiatives to advance the integrated development of culture, tourism, commerce, sports, exhibitions, and agriculture.

Guided by the principle that "all resources can be developed for tourism", Jinshan aims to optimize its cultural and tourism resources to further promote the "Picturesque Jinshan" brand.

The district will also unlock value across the entire chain, linking dining, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment to create a cross-sector, multi-scenario consumption ecosystem.

For example, Jinshan plans to enhance shopping by developing specialty tourism products and expanding factory outlet offerings. On the entertainment front, the district will enhance visitor experiences by hosting music and beer festivals and interactive esports activities.

Beyond tourism, Jinshan is strengthening its leading industries, including high-end chemicals and new materials, new energy vehicles, and the low-altitude economy, while accelerating growth in biomanufacturing, electronics, and renewable energy.

In June, construction began on the Lexus electric vehicle plant within the Shanghai Bay Area High-tech Industrial Development Zone. The facility is expected to begin production in 2027, with an initial annual output of 100,000 vehicles.

Another anchor project is the Shanghai Bay Area Tower, a digital industry base located north of the Shanghai Innovation Bay. Construction is advancing rapidly, with the main structure expected to top out by the end of December and operations set to begin in mid-2025.

Designed as a multifunctional hub, the base will attract and incubate tech firms in the digital economy and other key sectors, offering R&D, education, exhibitions, incubation, and one-stop services.
