Changning named national pilot zone for 15-min 'living circles'
Shanghai's Changning district was designated on Sept 8 as a national pilot zone for building 15-minute community "living circles".
Changing was selected as one of China's 30 prefecture-level or higher regions in the second batch of pilot zones announced by the Ministry of Commerce, alongside Haidian district in Beijing and Baotou city in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
Located in the western part of downtown Shanghai, Changning is known for its international communities, vibrant commerce, and convenient transport links.
The initiative, launched in 2023, aims to make daily necessities and essential services accessible within a 15-minute walk from residents' homes.
In the pilot areas, shopping, dining, housekeeping, and repair services will be available within 10 minutes on foot, while cultural, entertainment, leisure, social, healthcare, and fitness services can be reached within 15 minutes.
Elderly care and childcare services will also be integrated into these 15-minute communities.
