New tourism routes along Shanghai-Nanjing corridor launched
Shanghai has leveraged the high-speed railway network linking the Shanghai-Nanjing Industrial Innovation Belt, which involves the city's Putuo district and eight cities in East China's Jiangsu province, to launch a series of tourism routes to cater to various tourism needs.
A launch ceremony was held on Sept 24 at the Shanghai West Railway Station, which is the starting point of the tourism routes. At the event, five distinct tourism routes were unveiled.
The five newly unveiled routes offer diverse experiences for every traveler. They range from a two-day cultural express tour of Nanjing's landmarks and autumn scenery to a rejuvenating wellness escape in Changzhou-Liyang route with tea picking and hot springs.
Other options include a historical journey to search for cultural roots in Nantong and Taizhou, a classic tour capturing the quintessential Jiangnan charm of Wuxi and Suzhou's water towns, and a poetic dual-city trip through Zhenjiang and Yangzhou to explore local legends and culture.
As the starting point, Putuo district also offers a rich variety of local attractions, including scenic Suzhou Creek cruises, the M50 Creative Park, the Shanghai Mint Museum, panoramic city views from the Tian An 1000 Trees and Global Harbor towers, and historical sites like the Zhenru Temple.
