Shanghai is gearing up for a lively Spring Festival holiday, with dazzling night scenes set to be a highlight of the celebrations.

From Feb 15 to 23, the city will take on a festive look, as major roads, buildings, and commercial and tourism areas are decorated with colorful lights, national flags, Chinese knots and lanterns.

In Pudong New Area, a nightly light show will illuminate the core Lujiazui area from 7 pm to 9:30 pm throughout the nine-day holiday. Horse-themed decorations and lanterns will also be installed at key locations such as the Lujiazui roundabout and along Century Avenue.

In Huangpu district, the renowned Yuyuan Garden Lantern Show will be extended to the Bund Finance Center this year. Festive decorations, including Chinese knots and red lanterns, will line Huaihai Road and East Nanjing Road.

Sanitation workers will remain on duty across the city during the holiday. Additional staff and more frequent cleaning will be deployed in high-traffic areas such as major squares, popular attractions and transport hubs.
