Shanghai has launched a global call for logo designs for its iconic waterfront initiative, "One River, One Creek", which refers to the Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek. Submissions are open until Feb 28.

The Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek, often referred to as Shanghai's "mother rivers", have witnessed the city's transformation from a trading port into a global metropolis.

Over the years, the initiative has revitalized the waterfront, featuring continuous green spaces, pedestrian-friendly routes, cultural venues, waterfront service stations, and vibrant public life.

To further develop a cultural brand with international recognition, designers from around the world are invited to submit proposals for two official logos:

1. The Shanghai "One River, One Creek" logo

2. The "River and Creek 100" cultural and tourism logo, representing:

  • More than 100 kilometers of connected waterfront along the two waterways
  • A commitment to top-quality cultural and tourism services
  • More than 100 premium waterfront cultural and tourism projects annually

The global call was jointly launched by the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, the office of the leading group for the "One River, One Creek" initiative, and Shanghai United Media Group.
