China extends visa-free policy to Canada, UK

China has decided to extend its visa-free policy to ordinary passport holders from Canada and the United Kingdom starting Feb 17, the first day of the Chinese New Year holiday, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson announced on Feb 15, adding that the move aims to further facilitate cross-border travel.

According to the spokesperson, ordinary passport holders from Canada and the United Kingdom can enter China visa-free and stay for up to 30 days for purposes including business, tourism, visiting family or friends, exchanges and transit.

The policy will remain in effect until Dec 31.
