Yangtze delta demonstration zone unveils 2026 roadmap
The executive committee of the demonstration zone for green and integrated ecological development of the Yangtze River Delta released its 2026 development roadmap, with a focus on integrated institutional innovation and green, low carbon and high-quality development.
Key initiatives in terms of integrated institutional innovation involve evaluating the supervision and maintenance mechanism of the demonstration zone's territorial space planning and implementing comprehensive land remediation.
The zone intends to explore ecological environmental zoning management across regional boundaries, such as the Watertown Parlor.
Fair competition review mechanisms will be set up across regions and departments, as well as talent recognition systems linking Shanghai with Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces.
On the front of pushing ahead with green, low carbon and high-quality development, the roadmap emphasizes the construction of scientific research innovation platforms, and implementing a three-year action plan for high-tech zone development.
High-level pilot platforms will be built based on scientific and technological platforms, including the Innovation Center of the Yangtze River Delta at Zhejiang University.
The plan also aims to optimize the operation and management of the demonstration zone investment fund and increase investment in scientific and technological innovation and green and low-carbon industries.
Moreover, the zone will deepen the joint organization of events and prepare for major cross-regional sports competitions.
Seven major projects will drive development of key areas, including interconnected infrastructure, ecological environmental protection, and public services.
