China Annual Trends Summit held in Shanghai
The 2026 China Annual Trends Summit was held at the Shanghai Exhibition Center in Jing'an district from July 9 to 10, bringing together representatives from China and abroad in the cultural, fashion, sports, film, and television sectors.
Centering on Chinese aesthetics and contemporary style, this year's summit focuses on integrating fashion with other fields, reflecting the evolving landscape of China's fashion industry.
The opening ceremony featured an intangible cultural heritage fashion show that blended millennia-old weaving techniques with contemporary fashion design.
Shanghai has been encouraging fashion consumption through "First in Shanghai", which promotes product launches, and "Shanghai Style", which promotes customized products.
The city is also stepping up efforts to foster design innovation, technological advancement, and industrial upgrading, with fashion as a driving force, while promoting the integration of culture, commerce, tourism, sports, and exhibitions.
Shanghai aims to grow its fashion consumer goods industry to more than 500 billion yuan ($74 billion) by 2028.
