Alberto Giacometti: A Life of Creation, a major solo exhibition of works by sculptor Alberto Giacometti, opened to the public on July 17 at the Shanghai Minsheng Art Museum.

The exhibition marks the 60th anniversary of Giacometti's death and is one of the key projects of the 2026 Festival Croisements. Co-organized with the Giacometti Foundation, the exhibition offers a panoramic look at the life and artistic development of Alberto Giacometti (1901-66).

Giacometti is regarded as one of the most iconic artists of the 20th century, best known for his distinctive sculptural style. His Pointing Man holds the world auction record for a sculpture, and both Walking Man I and The Chariot have each sold for more than $100 million at auction.

Divided into 13 sections, the exhibition brings together 212 major works and archival materials from the Giacometti Foundation, including sculptures, paintings, drawings, prints, and manuscripts.

The exhibition also traces key threads in the artist's life, including his close ties to his family, memories of the natural landscape of his native Switzerland, and daily walks through the streets of Paris, offering visitors a closer look at his life and inner world.
