Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station has recently upgraded its ride-hailing services, making it more convenient for passengers to reach pickup points.

After exiting the metro station platforms, passengers can now follow newly added floor markings that clearly direct them to four e-hailing pickup points, including the one on the first basement floor of Parking Lot 10 (P10), with distances marked in meters.

Following the upgrade, the number of e-hailing vehicles exiting P10 during peak hours is estimated to have increased by 17.2 percent, while the share of vehicles exiting the parking garage within 20 minutes rose from 58.12 percent to 64.14 percent.

The average time vehicles spent in the parking garage dropped from 28.5 minutes to 23.1 minutes.

The parking turnover rate, meaning the number of e-hailing vehicles handled by each parking space per hour, rose from 5.2 to 7.8.

The area formerly occupied by about 360 parking spaces in Section 12 on the first basement floor of P10 has been converted into e-hailing pickup and holding areas, with 15 pickup spaces and about 65 holding spaces.

To save time for travelers, the waiting area has been moved eastward, closer to the railway station exit. The e-hailing pickup area has also been equipped with more facilities, including seating, accessible ramps, mobile phone charging stations, vending machines and electric fans.

There are plans in place to transform the former Hongqiao long-distance bus station into a dedicated e-hailing pickup area, fully separating e-hailing vehicles from other vehicles.
