With 50 days to go before the WorldSkills Competition opens, a citywide event themed "Master new skills and change the future" took place in Shanghai on Aug 3, allowing residents to learn a variety of skills and experience the competition’s charm firsthand.

At the event's main venue, Global Harbor, visitors had the opportunity to try new skills, learn about the WorldSkills Competition, and watch skill demonstrations. Chen Ji, a sophomore at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, performed an original rap on stage for the audience.

Meanwhile, experience activities were also held at 16 sub-venues across the city’s 16 districts from July 31 to Aug 2.

Separately, the Executive Bureau of the WorldSkills Competition, Shanghai Observer, and RedNote (Xiaohongshu) launched the WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 Co-creation Program on Aug 3. Participants who post original photo-and-text notes or video notes on RedNote with hashtags related to the WorldSkills Competition will receive greater exposure, opportunities to showcase the project, and a chance to be a "WorldSkills Co-creator".

That same day, Bilibili, the official partner platform for the competition, unveiled a WorldSkills content creation program, with the tagline "My Skills, So Splendid". Those interested can take part by submitting videos via the "Craftsmanship", "Creation", and "Smart Design" channels through Sept 27 to earn rewards.
