Shanghai made temporary transportation adjustments on Aug 10 as Typhoon Dolphin brings heavy rain and strong winds to the city.

Travelers are advised to check the latest service updates before heading out, as arrangements may change based on weather and operating conditions.

Metro

Four Shanghai Metro lines have been suspended since the start of operations on Aug 10:

• Line 3
• Line 5
• Line 16
• Pujiang Line

Lines 1, 2, 6 and 10 are operating on shortened routes:

• Line 1: Xinzhuang – Shanghai Railway Station; trains are operating at reduced speeds between Xinzhuang and Shanghai South Railway Station.
• Line 2: Panxiang Road · Shanghai National Accounting Institute – Longyang Road
• Line 6: Yunshan Road – Oriental Sports Center
• Line 10: Hongqiao Railway Station/Hangzhong Road – Xinjiangwancheng

Trains are also operating at reduced speeds on above-ground and elevated sections of Lines 4, 7, 8, 9, 11 and 17, as well as the Airport Link Line.

Other sections of the Metro network are operating normally.

Roads and bridges

As of 8 am, speed limits of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour are in effect on Shanghai's expressways and elevated roads.

The Donghai Bridge and the G40 Shanghai Yangtze River Bridge are temporarily closed in both directions.

Due to waterlogging, the following locations are temporarily closed:

• G15: Husong Toll Station;
• G2 toward Jiangsu: at K1195, the ramp toward the Lyudi Avenue Toll Station and the ramps connecting to both the inner and outer loops of G1503;
• G2 toward downtown Shanghai: the ramps connecting to both the inner and outer loops of G1503;
• G2 Auto City Toll Station: the entrance ramp toward downtown Shanghai; and
• S20 Outer Ring Expressway: the entrance and exit ramps at Wuzhong Road on the inner loop, the Huqingping Highway exit ramp on the inner loop, the entrance and exit ramps at Wuzhong Road on the outer loop, the Beidi Road entrance ramp, and the Hongmei South Road exit ramp.

Drivers are advised to follow real-time traffic information and avoid waterlogged sections.

Ferries and cross-river travel

All ferry services in Shanghai are suspended as of the morning of Aug 10.

Contingency arrangements for non-motorized vehicles have been activated at the following river-crossing tunnels:

• Fuxing Road East Tunnel: upper level of the southern tube, west to east
• Yindu Road Tunnel: upper level in both directions
• Changjiang Road Tunnel: both directions
• Dalian Road Tunnel: both directions

Cyclists and e-bike users should follow on-site traffic guidance when crossing the river.

Flights

Operations at Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport are being adjusted because of the typhoon.

Nearly 40 percent of arriving and departing flights are expected to be canceled on Aug 10.

Passengers are advised to check their flight status with their airline before heading to the airport.

Trains

Following the latest assessment of the typhoon's track and impact, passenger train services on several railway lines are gradually resuming on Aug 10.

• From 8 am: services on the Hangzhou East–Cangnan section of the Hangzhou–Shenzhen Railway, Hangzhou–Quzhou High-speed Railway, and Hefei–Fuzhou High-speed Railway began gradually resuming.
• From 8:30 am: services on the Jinhua–Wenzhou Railway began gradually resuming.
• From 9 am: services began gradually resuming on the Hangzhou–Taizhou High-speed Railway, including the Wenling–Yuhuan section, as well as the Hangzhou–Wenzhou, Hangzhou–Nanchang, Xuancheng–Jixi, and Chizhou–Huangshan high-speed railways.
• From 10 am: services on the Hangzhou East–Jiangshan section of the Shanghai–Kunming High-speed Railway began gradually resuming.
