Shanghai Pudong International Airport has unveiled a new infant- and toddler-friendly space at Terminal 2 on Aug 26, covering more than 110 square meters and featuring a nursing room, a rest area, and a parent-child waiting zone, marking a significant upgrade in services for families with young children.

The new space was created jointly by the airport, the Shanghai Population Welfare Foundation, and the maternal and infant brand Babycare.

Located near Gate C77 in the domestic mixed-flow area, the facility includes a nursing room equipped with comfortable breastfeeding chairs, adjustable lighting, and an integrated feeding station that combines temperature-controlled filtered water dispensing, sterilization, milk warming, and milk mixing.

The nursing room features anti-collision designs and eco-friendly materials. It is equipped with child-sized toilets and sinks, plus an emergency call button installed just 18 centimeters from the floor, making it accessible for children.

Playful elements such as ice-cream-shaped hooks, candy-patterned tiles, and waffle-shaped handrails are incorporated into the space to enhance the travel experience for families.

Beyond the nursing room, the airport created a 65-sq-m entertainment zone featuring oversized tangram puzzles and other interactive installations for children to play with.

Pudong airport has steadily improved its child-friendly services in recent years, with 107 nursing rooms now operating across its two terminals, two of which have received Shanghai's highest five-star rating.

During this summer's travel peak, the airport introduced dedicated strollers for families, opened two pediatric medical consultation rooms in the international departure areas in partnership with Shanghai Children's Medical Center, and extended its special care services to teenagers ages 13 to 16 who fall outside the unaccompanied minor category, ensuring support for children of all ages.
