Fudan University in Shanghai welcomed more than 5,100 undergraduate freshmen from across the world on Aug 30, with this year's move-in day showcasing a tech-driven orientation centered on artificial intelligence and student-focused campus services.

As the new students arrived on campus, they were greeted by interactive AI guides and robotic dogs that helped with carrying their luggage.

The university also introduced an interactive AI platform designed to help students settle into campus life. Operating 24/7 across eight campus life scenarios, from dining and health insurance to shuttle buses. It has already answered more than 5,000 student queries since its launch.

Another AI tool, "Dan Xiaoxin", aggregates authoritative information and orientation announcements from the university's official website and WeChat accounts. Fudan also upgraded its online portal, streamlining checkin procedures and task management through a unified digital interface.

To support its growing international community, the university inaugurated the International Student Service Center, which offers administrative support to international students.

Evita Lazarenka, an international student from Belarus, shared her excitement about starting a new chapter in her life at Fudan. A student of the university's School of Management, she began learning Chinese in senior high school and has developed a strong interest in Chinese culture.

"China is developing so rapidly, and I believe studying here will open up more opportunities for my future," said Lazarenka.

This year, the university launched 13 specialized program clusters focused on emerging industries and key technological sectors requiring major breakthroughs.
