Weather: Mostly cloudy with occasional showers
Influenced by easterly winds over the sea, Shanghai will see mostly cloudy skies this week, with occasional brief showers in some areas. It is best to dry laundry indoors.
Temperatures will remain stable, with highs of 29 C to 31 C and lows of 24 C to 25 C. Cooler breezes are beginning to arrive, though the lingering summer heat has yet to fade.
Today marks White Dew
Sept 7 marks bailu, or White Dew, the 15th of China's 24 solar terms. The name refers to the bead-like drops of dew that begin to appear as autumn approaches.
Traditionally, White Dew is divided into three five-day periods, marked by the arrival of wild geese, the southward return of swallows, and birds beginning to store food for the colder months.
Shanghai Tourism Festival's classic events season
The 2026 Shanghai Tourism Festival has entered its classic events season, with 170 activities taking place across six themes.
The program covers local cuisine, nightlife, leisurely city tours, shopping and markets, stage performances, and Shanghai's cultural heritage, offering residents and visitors a wide range of ways to experience the city this autumn.
