A delegation including Russian medical experts visited Shanghai Yixing TCM-Integrated Hospital in Songjiang district on Aug 29 to learn about Chinese acupotomy and acupuncture techniques.

In the consultation room, the Russian experts gathered around the treatment table, their eyes fixed on an acupotomy needle with a diameter of just 0.3 millimeters. Professor Hu Zhijun, a visiting expert at the hospital and chief physician in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Longhua Hospital, demonstrated acupotomy on a patient's back, explaining the procedure's therapeutic principles and key steps.

In the traditional Chinese medicine treatment room, a Chinese therapist demonstrated acupuncture and tuina massage techniques as the visiting Russian experts asked questions about acupoint selection and needle insertion angles.

At the subsequent symposium, Chinese and Russian experts discussed rehabilitation plans for typical cases, while Russian representatives shared their clinical experience with reflexotherapy for pain management.

A hospital representative noted that the visit not only gave the Russian experts firsthand experience of the clinical application of TCM techniques but also opened up possibilities for future cooperation in teleconsultation and technical training. Acupuncture and acupotomy have attracted growing attention overseas in recent years.
