The Qingpu district branch of the third Shanghai International Light Festival will run from Sept 21 to Oct 7. The event will combine light-art installations with local agriculture, culture, commerce, tourism, sports, and exhibition sectors.

The public-engagement campaign "Summon the Aurora Together" will invite residents to participate, while new "Glow Stations" will deliver interactive, light-themed experiences. A dedicated light festival map will guide visitors across all featured venues.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for 7 pm on Sept 21 at Bailian Outlets Plaza in Qingpu. The main venue will host multiple installations, including the Songze Culture Wall, a light-transmission art device, and a large-scale poetic light show. Together, they highlight the harmonious integration of Qingpu's culture, commerce, technology, and natural environment.

The highly anticipated second-phase expansion of Qingpu Bailian Outlets Plaza is scheduled to begin trial operations in late September, bringing upgraded parking, distinctive Jiangnan water-town architecture, and new retail offerings to shoppers.

Beyond the opening venue, a string of light-themed activities will take place across the district. Highlights include the "Must-Drive Route 318" pop-up light experience, "Illusory Light" at Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, a field experience at Cenbu village, an autumn night tour at Hemu Water Street, a flower market at Hongqiao Flower Valley, and a garden party at Panlong Xintiandi.

Visitors can explore a wide range of immersive light-art experiences spanning commercial plazas, ancient water towns, rural countryside, and urban parks throughout the festival.
