Metro AG, a German wholesale giant that has operated in China for three decades, will return to the China International Import Expo (CIIE) for the ninth consecutive year as an exhibitor, buyer, and product supplier.

The retailer will bring 129 directly sourced products from key producing regions worldwide, including 50 new arrivals, 12 of which are limited-edition products making their CIIE debut. This is part of its effort to enable Chinese consumers to enjoy global flavors without leaving the country.

At last year's edition, Metro’s booth, themed "Taste the World in One Stop," featured 130 products from 21 countries. As a key buyer based in Shanghai's Putuo district, it placed the expo's first intention-to-purchase order on opening day, upgraded its StarFarm full-chain traceability system, and, for the first time, presented its sustainable procurement strategy in a dedicated zone.

This year, the group will again emphasize responsible consumption. Imported foods linked to the StarFarm traceability system will take center stage, along with aquatic products bearing MSC or BAP certification and items packaged in FSC-certified paper.

Backed by its culinary academy and WorldSkills-linked resources, Metro’s senior chef team will craft exclusive recipes and cooking solutions using expo-featured ingredients, offering one-stop solutions for business clients and helping consumers recreate professional-grade global flavors at home.
