Oct 30 – Shanghai Mayor Zhu Zhongming met with Kai Mykkanen, mayor of Espoo, Finland, and his delegation in Shanghai to exchange views on future cooperation between the two cities.

Zhu said Shanghai and Espoo share a history of friendly cooperation that dates back to 1998.

He called for stronger trade and investment cooperation between the two cities and welcomed more companies from Espoo and across Finland to participate in the upcoming ninth China International Import Expo.

Zhu also expressed hope that the two cities will strengthen cooperation in education, science and technology, culture, and tourism, and share more experience in urban renewal, public services, green and low-carbon development, and urban management.

He said the two cities could join hands in contributing more ideas and solutions to sustainable urban development worldwide.

Mykkanen said the friendship-city relationship has built bridges for cooperation between communities, companies, and universities in the two cities.

He said Espoo would encourage more companies to participate in the CIIE and expand their investment in Shanghai.
