Get a sneak peek at the Double Five Shopping Festival activities in Songjiang district
Shanghai's Songjiang district is gearing up to launch a diverse array of themed activities during the upcoming Double Five Shopping Festival, as authorities aim to further invigorate local consumption potential.
Scheduled to unfold from late April through the end of June, the festival will coincide with a string of holidays, including May Day, Mother's Day, Children's Day, Father's Day, and the Dragon Boat Festival, promising an extended period of celebratory fervor.
The forthcoming events in Songjiang will be divided into three parts, encompassing initiatives aimed at promoting high-quality products from Songjiang, activities set to animate the district's commercial precincts, and an array of events tailored to stimulate cultural and tourism consumption.
Promoting high-quality local products
In an effort to boost the sales of premium products from Songjiang, the district will not only host offline events but also arrange a series of online activities from April to June, making local products more accessible to residents through digital platforms.
A program in May will assist farmers in selling characteristic agricultural products such as rice, cakes, and vegetables, offering residents an authentic "Songjiang taste" experience.
Additionally, in June, a market featuring local fashion consumer goods will be established in Sheshan, providing residents with a unique shopping experience as they explore the national tourist resort.
In partnership with enterprises like personal care electric appliance brand Flyco and snack chain Laiyifen, Songjiang will launch gift box at the Flyco online flagship store on May 20 and distribute millions of yuan worth of consumer vouchers at Laiyifen brick-and-mortar stores during the festival.
Lively gatherings
To draw visitors to commercial hubs, the Songjiang Incity shopping mall will provide various attractions, including markets, outdoor movies, concerts, and university competitions from April to June.
From April to May, Thames Town's commercial street will host events such as a flea market, a handmade art market, and an art festival featuring French music.
In May, the Wulong Lake commercial district will celebrate Wanda Plaza's 10th anniversary and host activities like tracing the footsteps of the Chinese classic Journey to the West at Wulong Square.
Commercial districts like Yunjian Granary Cultural and Creative Park, Sheshan Baolehui, and Dongding Shopping Center will also launch diverse promotional activities.
Cultural and tourism exploration
From March to June, Shanghai Happy Valley will collaborate with digital reading platform qimao.com to create a China chic cultural festival.
During the May Day holiday, Shanghai Film Park will invite visitors to stroll through the filming locations of the hit Chinese TV series Blossoms Shanghai and other Shanghai-style scenes.
Meanwhile, cultural and tourism venues like Sheshan National Forest Park, Yuehu Sculpture Park, Rabor Nova, and Guangfulin Cultural Ruins Park will offer a rich and innovative urban experience carnival.
