After a two-year hiatus, the 6th Jing'an Wine Festival returned to Tonglefang – a charming alleyway in Shanghai – on Sept 15-17, coinciding with the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.

The three-day event had a vibrant international atmosphere, with attendees experiencing the rich tradition of winemaking and savoring a diverse selection of wines from around the world.

The festival paid tribute to the törggelen tradition from the Tyrolean region of the Alps, capturing the essence of grape harvesting and winemaking.

Törggelen, an Alpine term meaning "to press", refers to the process of pressing grapes after harvest, marking the start of winemaking.

Traditionally, törggelen signifies a celebratory event where freshly pressed, lightly fermented grape juice is enjoyed alongside local food and roasted chestnuts.

This year's festival featured a carefully curated selection of wines from Italy, Austria, Germany, France, South Africa, Chile, New Zealand and beyond.

Producer Barbarossa Cantina showcased premium wines and whiskies from Germany, Austria, and Italy; Sinodrink presented a full range of high-quality Italian wines; La Cava de Laoma offered wines from Chile and South America and The Rooster highlighted rosé wines from around the globe.

As visitors explored the diverse styles and unique characteristics of wines from various regions, they also immersed themselves in local culture and enjoyed an array of culinary delights paired with their favorite wines.

The event was organized by TWG, an importer and distributor founded in 2020 by Italian sommelier and entrepreneur Michele Muraro – known as "the wine guy" in Shanghai's expat community.

The festival was said to reflect the company's commitment to bringing premium wines from around the world, with a particular focus on Italian selections.
