Shanghai kicks off Snow Fantasy Festival at Global Harbor
Massive shopping mall Global Harbor in Shanghai kicked off its winter-themed lighting ceremony on Dec 6 with pizzazz — ushering in a magical winter vibe with artificial snowfall that transformed its streets into a winter wonderland.
The event, organized by Yuexing Group in collaboration with Global Harbor and the Hyatt Regency, marked the beginning of the Snow Fantasy Festival — an enchanting, season-long celebration of warmth, fun and winter charm.
This year's theme — Heartwarming Winter — features a variety of activities, including pop-up events that blend popular brands and much-loved characters.
Notable collaborations include the Chinese tea brand Auntea Jenny with The Falling Merman graphic novel by Lin Qian, and Balabala — a Chinese children's clothing brand — with Sanrio, the Japanese company behind iconic characters like Hello Kitty. These collaborations are said to offer visitors immersive and delightful experiences.
On Dec 22, the festival will host a charity art auction showcasing works by children with autism, reinforcing the event's heartwarming theme.
Other highlights include the fifth Esports Shanghai Amateur Championship and a Russian food fair running from Dec 7 to Jan 5.
The festivities will culminate with the Global Night New Year's Eve Gala on Dec 31. Held at the L4 Global Hall, the organizers say the gala promises a spectacular lineup of performances, a countdown lottery, drumming for the New Year and even an outdoor midnight run.
To enhance year-end shopping, Global Harbor is offering promotional activities such as group discounts and livestream sales during the Double 12 (Dec 12) shopping festival.
Customers can also participate in both online and in-person activities to earn rewards, helping to make the Snow Fantasy Festival a highlight of Shanghai's holiday season.
