Celine pop-up brings French Riviera charm to Zhangyuan

As late spring settles over Zhangyuan — a historical and cultural block in Shanghai's Jing'an district — French luxury fashion house Celine has stylishly launched its five-week pop-up store, "ÉTÉ CELINE".
It's the global debut of its latest summer collection and it runs through to May 11.
For the first time, Zhangyuan has introduced a "refunding upon purchasing" service for this event, allowing international visitors to shop and receive departure tax refunds on the spot.
The new offering is widely seen as being a major step in morphing Zhangyuan from a popular photo spot into a true shopping destination — boosting inbound tourism and spending in Jing'an.
The Celine pop-up event is set across three themed zones within Zhangyuan's signature shikumen courtyards, celebrating the spirit of a French summer.
Visitors enter through a lush garden inspired by France's celebrated Provence region — filled with olive trees, lemon trees and lavender, all surrounding a central fountain topped with Celine’s iconic emblem.
Next to the garden is a leisure area with fine sand, inviting guests to play Finnish keels or skittles and France's beloved petanque — two classic European outdoor games. A charming ice cream cart nearby offers cool refreshments between rounds.

On the opposite side, an elegant terrace cafe recreates the relaxed ambiance of French outdoor dining. Every piece of furniture — from lounge chairs to beach stools — has been carefully selected to evoke a serene coastal courtyard.

Inside the main building, the experience continues with a spacious, sunlit interior designed in classic French style. The original wood floors, columns and paneling of Zhangyuan blend seamlessly with Celine's refined displays of summer-ready apparel, accessories and signature woven raffia bags.
White fabric shades, inspired by seaside living, soften the natural light and create a dreamy setting for the brand's collection.
