Jinshan district to host week-long farmers' harvest carnival
China will host its eighth annual Farmers' Harvest Festival in September — featuring nationwide events that celebrate bumper crops, rural traditions and the progress of agricultural modernization, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced on Aug 29.
In Shanghai's Jinshan district, the festival will take the form of a lively carnival on Sept 20-27 at SH Blooming Garden in Zhujing town.
The week-long celebration will offer a wide range of activities, including cultural performances, a bustling marketplace, drone shows, farm product livestreaming sessions, farmers sports games and outdoor movies. Visitors can enjoy something new every day, from morning to night.
By day, the focus will be on food, shopping and fun. The marketplace will be full of handmade goods and local snacks, while livestreams will show freshly harvested fruit, vegetables and other farm products, bringing authentic rural flavors directly to buyers.
Farmers sports games, featuring contests such as corn shucking and pumpkin carrying, will add plenty of laughter and excitement.
As night falls, the festive spirit will reach new heights. Hundreds of drones will light up the sky with dazzling displays celebrating both the joys of harvest and the vitality of modern agriculture. Families and friends will also be able to enjoy outdoor film screenings and stage performances, ranging from music and dance to comedy and folk shows.
Whether they're snacking on local gastronomic specialties, browsing the market for treasures, or gazing at a sparkling drone show, visitors are sure to experience a rich blend of rural charm and modern creativity.
