65 years of Graff: A diamond legacy shines in Shanghai
The sparkle of one of the world's most renowned jewelers has come to Shanghai. On Sept 13, the Celebrate 65 Years of Graff Excellence exhibition opened at the West Bund Orbit in Xuhui district, marking the first stop of its Asia tour.
Running through Sept 21, the exhibition invites visitors into the dazzling world of Graff, the British brand often referred to as the "King of Diamonds".
Set across seven themed spaces, the show presents more than 100 rare pieces, from legendary diamonds to masterful high-jewelry creations. It also tells the story of Graff's founder, Laurence Graff, who, since 1960, has transformed rough stones into some of the world's most celebrated gems.
Highlights include:
- Tracing how unpolished stones become radiant masterpieces, with famous gems such as The Paragon (1989), The Icon (2000), and The Letseng Legacy (2007) on display.
- Through film and multimedia, the exhibition reveals Graff's meticulous diamond-cutting process and the family's dedication to excellence, now carried forward by current CEO Francois Graff.
- Historic photos, sketches, and personal items recreate the founder's office, showing how Graff grew from a single London store into a global brand with more than 70 boutiques.
- Five classic diamond cuts: round, heart, pear, emerald, and oval are showcased, including flawless D-color stones that shine with rare brilliance.
- Jewelry lovers can admire the brand's signature designs, such as the Butterfly series, which celebrates its 50th anniversary with new creations.
- The centerpiece is the breathtaking Graff Infinity Diamond tiara, featuring a flawless 157.80-carat heart-shaped diamond at its center. Discovered as a rough stone in Botswana in 2017, it is surrounded by 18 smaller heart-shaped diamonds that radiate extraordinary brilliance.
