An eight-day global food market hosted by local retail giant Bailian Group opened on March 1 along Shanghai's Suzhou Creek, bringing together international culinary brands, Chinese specialties, and lifestyle retailers along the creek's revitalized waterfront.

Guided by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce and the Jing'an district government, the event is part of the city's annual 2026 Global Taste in Shanghai campaign.

Vendors present an eclectic mix of overseas and domestic brands. Among the overseas participants is the La Baraka food truck, backed by a Michelin three-star chef. From Suzhou in Jiangsu province, the Shengze Shaomai Museum is presenting its signature steamed dumplings. Lianhua Supermarket is showcasing imported products such as Spanish Iberian ham and Australian grain-fed Wagyu steak, paired with boutique wines for public tastings. Shanghai No 1 Pharmacy has introduced herbal-inspired beverages such as ginseng Americano and ganoderma latte.

The market runs along Guangfu Road from Wuzhen Road Bridge to Jinyuan Plaza, with key venues at Guang'er Warehouse and Fotografiska. Once part of a riverside industrial zone, the warehouses now form part of a cluster of restored historic buildings that have been converted into commercial and cultural spaces.

At Guang'er Warehouse, the ground floor brings together concepts led by Michelin three-star chefs, international dining brands, and South Korean showrooms. The upper floors house global design firms, luxury home collections, and art exhibitions, underscoring the site's transition from industrial use to a mixed cultural and retail destination.

Bailian Group said it plans to further link nearby sites, including Sihang Warehouse, Yanqing Lane, Guang'er Warehouse, and Fotografiska, and to coordinate programming across culture, commerce, tourism, sports, and exhibitions.

Planned measures include integrating river cruise routes with onshore retail and dining destinations. On land, pedestrian and cycling paths will be connected, and more ground-floor spaces at major venues will be opened to improve public access.
