'Chiikawa Days' exhibition opens at Jing An Kerry Centre
The Chiikawa Days exhibition has made its debut on the Chinese mainland at Jing An Kerry Centre, or JAKC, and will run through Nov 1.
The exhibition features themed areas at JAKC's South Plaza and at the intersection of West Nanjing Road and Changde Road. It includes two ticketed areas, free exhibition areas, and a pop-up store accessible to ticket holders.
The main exhibition, one of two ticketed zones, features nine themed rooms depicting the characters' daily lives, from food and clothing to their homes, travel, and everyday adventures. More than 100 three-dimensional sculptures vividly bring scenes from the comic to life.
The Shanghai-exclusive area, Chiikawa Longtang Eats, integrates local cuisine and neighborhood culture into the exhibition. Set against the backdrop of traditional Shanghai longtang (small lane) scenes, the area features Chiikawa and friends as various local dishes, including pan-fried pork buns, fresh meat mooncakes, crab roe soup dumplings, butterfly-shaped crackers, braised pork belly, eight-treasure rice pudding, and almond tofu.
A 9-meter-tall inflatable sculpture of Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi is making its debut on the Chinese mainland at the corner of West Nanjing Road and Changde Road.
The pop-up store on the second floor of JAKC's North Plaza offers more than 50 licensed products, with new items continually released throughout the exhibition. Chiikawa Longtang Eats-themed merchandise makes its global debut, while "Moon-Lantern Fest" souvenirs are available for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays.
During the exhibition, food and beverage outlets at JAKC are also offering official Chiikawa co-branded food items. Paper Stone Bakery, for example, is selling freshly baked meat mooncakes adorned with Chiikawa designs.
