Tian An 1000 Trees, the Thomas Heatherwick-designed complex beside Suzhou Creek in Shanghai's Putuo district, has opened an autumn art month running through Oct 7, the end of the National Day holiday.

Rising beside Suzhou Creek like a forest in the sky, Tian An 1000 Trees has become a must-see for international travelers. It ranks among the top attractions on Tripadvisor Global, out of more than 1,400 things to do in Shanghai, with a best showing of No 2 and a rating of 4.9 out of 5. One traveler's verdict: "Splendid views. Totally worth a visit if you come to visit Shanghai."

Themed events and promotions are lined up for the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, offering visitors a chance to see what all the social media buzz is about.

On the first floor, the Livewellwell Design Weekend brings together home design and lifestyle brands, including digital artist Zhang Zhoujie's new "Wander" titanium series inspired by "2001: A Space Odyssey" and CHANGPHEL's Tibetan carpets, hand-woven from wool sourced at an elevation of 4,000 meters on the northern Tibetan plateau.

More than 30 brands, creative landmarks and cultural venues across the city are joining the program with exhibitions, guided tours and workshops. Children's workshops by art education brand Zhuleyuan will run from Sept 12 to Oct 7.

Beyond the exhibitions, a kilometer-long riverside walkway now links the complex with M50 Creative Park, one of the city's best-known art districts, and the Suzhou Creek cruise dock. The route offers a stroll past galleries, the sculptural complex, Baihe Bridge and a creative market.
