"和颜悦色 (hé yán yuè sè)" is a common Chinese idiom. It can be translated as "with a kind and pleasant countenance", "wearing a pleasant and gracious face", or "being mild and nice."

Examples:

tā hé yán yuè sè de shuō:"wǒ bìng bù shì xiǎng sǎo nǐ de xìng。"

他和颜悦色地说:“我并不是想扫你的兴。”

"I didn't mean to upset you," he said mildly.

wǒ huì hé yán yuè sè de duì tā

我会和颜悦色地对她。

I'll go easy on her.
