"和颜悦色 (hé yán yuè sè)" is a common Chinese idiom. It can be translated as "with a kind and pleasant countenance", "wearing a pleasant and gracious face", or "being mild and nice."
Examples:
tā hé yán yuè sè de shuō:"wǒ bìng bù shì xiǎng sǎo nǐ de xìng。"
他和颜悦色地说:“我并不是想扫你的兴。”
"I didn't mean to upset you," he said mildly.
wǒ huì hé yán yuè sè de duì tā
我会和颜悦色地对她。
I'll go easy on her.
