Rockbund, located at the origin of the Bund where Suzhou Creek and the Huangpu River meet, opened to the public in autumn 2023 after being shuttered for nearly 18 years. At the north end of the Bund financial cluster, Rockbund boasts 11 historic buildings dating back to the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as six new buildings, including the newly built Peninsula Hotel. Since 2006, David Chipperfield Architects (DCA) has been working on restoring and renovating the buildings, bringing back the classic elegance of the area.
