As part of the Shanghai Summer International Consumption Season, Meet678, a co-working space in Shanghai's Yangpu district, has teamed up with Douyin, China's version of TikTok, to launch a lively street music festival.

The event – which kicked off on July 15 and will run until Aug 5 – is inviting residents and visitors alike to join in fun nights filled with music and energy on the bustling streets.

Starting at 7 pm, the inaugural event at Meet678 came alive with dazzling lights, captivating melodies and dynamic beats. Enthusiastic performances by singers drew in office workers and passersby.

Fashionably dressed young people swayed to the rhythms, waved glow sticks and enjoyed the diverse music styles that enlivened the summer night.

The interactive atmosphere between the performers and the audience added to the fun.

"I just finished my workout downstairs and came over when I heard the music. It's the first time I've seen a star up close. The music is so exciting; it instantly relieved my stress," said Xiao Wu, an office worker at Meet678.

The festival is also expected to boost local businesses. A bar offering "lightly tipsy" drinks on the first night proved especially popular among young people looking to relax after work.

Even after the performances ended, many food establishments saw long lines of eager diners.

"I just got off the subway and the performance had already started. I haven't had dinner yet, so now I'm meeting friends here," said one visitor from another district.

Meet678 aims to be a social hub for young people with a variety of activities throughout the day – including cafes, light meals, bookstores, and bars.

The vibrant area continues to draw more young people to Yangpu, adding to the district's dynamic social scene.

From July 17 to Aug 4, Meet678 will host customized trendy scenes and interactive events, further boosting Yangpu's night economy.
