On June 9, the opening ceremony for the four-week 2024 Shanghai Summer School Traditional Chinese Medicine Program was held at the International Cooperation Center of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This marks the first time the program has resumed in-person sessions since 2019, drawing students from around the globe.

This year's program, themed "Exploring the Wonders of Traditional Chinese Medicine", has attracted nearly 40 international students from the United States, France, Malta, the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Malaysia, Thailand, Mongolia, Vietnam, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Myanmar, Mexico, and Syria.

On the day of the opening ceremony, students attended the first lecture of the program — An Introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine — thus beginning their journey to understanding TCM. Additionally, they practiced traditional exercises known as Wu Qin Xi, which literally translates to "five-animal frolics", under the guidance of their teachers. These exercises are said to limber up the joints, strengthen the waist, nourish the organs, help prevent disease, and prolong life.

The program maintains its excellent curriculum, which integrates the latest developments in TCM through various teaching methods and hands-on practice. Moreover, the program includes Chinese language courses and traditional Chinese cultural activities, providing students with an immersive experience.

The students expressed their hope to gain a deep understanding of TCM and experience the richness of Chinese culture during the upcoming studies and activities. They are sure that this will be a fulfilling and unforgettable summer.
