1. About ECUST

Located in Shanghai, East China University of Science and Technology was founded in 1952. The main campus is situated in downtown Xuhui district and easily accessible by Metro Line 15. As one of the authorized HSK test centers in China, it offers year-round Chinese language courses to international students.

2. About the courses

2.1 Program features

> Different levels: Seven levels for elementary, intermediate, and advanced language acquisition.

> Small classes: Each class has a maximum of 20 students.

> Comprehensive training: Diverse curriculum elements, including listening, speaking, reading and writing.

> Professional faculties: Instruction and guidance from experienced Chinese language teachers.

> Target-oriented teaching: Enhancement of integrated application of Chinese language.

> Degree upgrade: Priority for admission to ECUST undergraduate or postgraduate programs.

> Official certification: Certificate and transcript (with credits attached upon) completion.

3. How to apply

3.1 Eligibility

> Regular passport holders.

> Aged between 16-60.

3.2 Application procedures

Step 1: Click "Register", use your email to register and sign in

Step 2: Click "Non-degree Programs", and select "Chinese Language Program (Semester)"

Step 3: Fill in personal information, upload a passport copy, study experience, resume, and study plan

Step 4: Submit your application form

Step 5: Pay the application fee and upload payment proof(only required for remittance or bank transfer payments)

4. How to pay

Payment of tuition must be completed within five days after receiving the E-admission letter.

5. Admission procedures

5.1 Follow the application procedures above, and pay the application fee. Results will be available within two weeks.

5.2 After receiving the E-admission letter, pay the tuition fee within five days, and email proof of payment (only required for remittance or bank transfer payments)to

cie@ecust.edu.cn

5.3 Once your payment is received, E-documents for a student visa will be issued.

5.4 An online Chinese proficiency placement test will be arranged.

5.5 Course instructions will be released in the first week of school, and all new students are required to complete registration.

5.6 Students can apply for class change within one week after the course starts. Any group with fewer than 10 students will be merged.

6. Notes

Visas

E-documents for a student visa will be provided after admission, but no visa documents will be issued for those who are already in China during winter or summer vacation.

Accommodation

A limited number of single suites are available on campus. Suites include private bathrooms and balconies, and cost 80 yuan/day or 110 yuan/day (cost varies depending on the furnishings). Twenty-four-hour hot and cold water is included in the cost, while electricity is excluded.

The online booking system is usually open one month before the semester starts for applicants who are admitted and have paid the tuition. Those who have successfully booked on-campus dorms must pay the accommodation fee for one semester in full at registration at the beginning of the semester. Please keep an eye on all email notices.

Refunds

A full refund is available for those who withdraw enrollment and complete the withdrawal and visa cancellation procedures before registration day; no refund will be issued after two weeks from the registration day.
