Taopu, located in Shanghai's Putuo district, has transformed into a modern, efficient and eco-friendly urban area, as showcased in the recently released video series, "My TOP Moment".
In the third episode, Sila Dincer, a Turkish national living in Shanghai, serves as a guide to journey through Taopu's green parks, sustainable buildings, and low-carbon spaces to uncover its secret for sustainable development.
"Green and sustainable development is a topic that draws global attention. Today, I want to show you how these concepts are becoming a reality in Shanghai," Dincer said.
Her journey begins at Chunguang Park, a key part of Shanghai's ecological park belt. Designed with "ecological restoration and cultural regeneration" in mind, the park offers citizens a lush, walkable space that blends nature and urban life seamlessly.
The episode then highlights the Green Technology Demonstration Building for Yangtze River Delta Integration, a near-zero energy structure. With solar panels generating over 400,000 kWh annually, the building not only meets its energy needs but also contributes to the city grid. Innovative technologies like geothermal heat pumps and rainwater harvesting systems further exemplify Shanghai's commitment to integrating green technology into urban infrastructure.
The last stop brings Dincer to Liziyuan Park, Putuo's first "near-zero carbon park", which employs advanced water purification and energy-efficient technologies. Solar panels cover rooftops and parking shelters, almost completely eliminating the park's energy consumption.
From walkable green spaces to energy-efficient buildings, Taopu is redefining sustainable urban living. "Here, green isn't a luxury; it's part of everyday life," Dincer concludes, highlighting Taopu's commitment to making sustainability a tangible and engaging experience for all.
