Xintiandi Dongtaili opens with first stores, 27-day winter celebration
The city's newest shopping and lifestyle destination, Xintiandi Dongtaili, has opened, unveiling a 6,500-square-meter panoramic sky screen alongside a festive winter-themed installation village.
The village features snowmen, spruce trees, hot air balloons, and colorful lighting, creating a vibrant holiday atmosphere across the complex.
Xintiandi Dongtaili offers a diverse retail and leisure mix, with around 30 percent of its stores operating as flagship or debut locations. The commercial project brings together luxury beauty, fashion, sports, and nightlife, extending Shanghai's Xintiandi community into an all-day experiential destination.
Several high-end brands have opened their first stores in Building B, adopting a "front hall–backyard" layout. The front hall emphasizes retail and open interaction, while the backyard focuses on personalized services and community-oriented spaces. Highlights include:
- La Mer, which opened its first concept store in Shanghai, featuring the brand's first workshop in China for masterclasses and inspiration salons.
- Helena Rubinstein, which debuted its first new-concept flagship store in China, equipped with skin-testing technology for customized skincare solutions.
As part of its year-end program, Xintiandi Dongtaili has partnered with cartoon character Uncle Daniel to launch the 27-day Xintiandi Skication celebration. Running from Dec 16 to Jan 11, the event features four themed attractions: a themed camp, a snow slide, a hot spring experience, and a pop-up store.
Visitors can also enjoy nearly 30 light shows and more than 40 street performances, including mechanical dance acts and marching band parades, offering continuous entertainment from day to night.
