More products, expanded space at Shanghai airport duty-free shops
Shanghai Airport Authority announced on Dec 17 the results of its latest duty-free tenders for Pudong and Hongqiao international airports.
Dufry (Shanghai) Commercial has been awarded duty-free operating rights for the international areas of Terminal 1 and the S1 satellite hall at Pudong airport.
China Duty Free Group will operate duty-free stores in the international areas of Terminal 2 and the S2 satellite hall at Pudong airport, as well as at Hongqiao airport.
According to the authority, the new duty-free contracts are expected to reshape airport retail operations. The total duty-free operating area will increase by 1,564 square meters, while product offerings are set to expand to include mobile phones, small drones, maternal and baby products, health supplements, pet food, over-the-counter medicines, and household medical devices.
More Chinese brands will also be introduced, including time-honored brands and products related to China's intangible cultural heritage. In addition, duty-free operators will be required to establish pick-up counters for online pre-orders, offering both departure and arrival collection services once the new stores open.
