ECNU enhances international student integration and cross-cultural exchange

International students joined their Chinese peers in a series of exchange activities organized by East China Normal University this spring.

It was part of the university's ongoing program aimed at fostering intercultural understanding and global perspectives on campus.

The program offers tailored opportunities for international students to better adapt to China's learning environment, while helping Chinese students enhance their cross-cultural communication skills.

On May 16, Chinese and international students from the School of Communication visited New York University Shanghai to experience its interactive media art exhibition.

Students explored nearly 200 innovative works including physical design pieces, immersive installations, conceptual posters, VR visuals, creative films and interactive mini-programs.

They also had in-depth conversations with NYU Shanghai student creators about the ideas and technologies behind their projects.

On April 24, a group of 30 Chinese and international students and faculty members from the School of Design visited Fotografiska Shanghai, a contemporary museum of photography, art and culture located along Suzhou Creek.

During the visit, the group explored several exhibitions featuring works by Martin Parr, Rinko Kawauchi, Wawi Navarroza and Erik Johansson.

Students from the School of Foreign Languages took part in a series of cultural exchange activities, including multilingual music performances, city walks introducing Chinese culture in foreign languages, and traditional events such as Dragon Boat Festival activities and flower planting.

They also visited a translation heritage site, gaining insight into the cultural mission of language and translation work.

Students from the School of Politics and International Relations visited the Xu Guangqi Memorial Hall and T'ou-Sè-Wè Museum, learning about historical Sino-Western cultural exchanges and the unique legacy of Shanghai-style heritage.
