International students explore Shanghai and beyond on summer study tour
The two-week summer study tour, jointly organized by South Korea's Kyung Hee University and East China Normal University (ECNU) in Shanghai, successfully concluded on July 16. At the closing ceremony, students shared their achievements and reflected on their growth at ECNU, marking a heartfelt conclusion to this cross-cultural journey of discovery.
During the study tour, students immersed themselves in the vibrant culture and dynamic urban landscape of Shanghai. They visited the Oriental Pearl Tower for a panoramic view of the city skyline and explored the Shanghai Urban History and Development Museum to trace the city's transformation. They also enjoyed a night cruise on the Huangpu River, capturing the dazzling lights and striking architecture along the waterfront, and strolled through Yuyuan Garden and Chenghuang Temple, experiencing its time-honored cultural heritage.
During cultural workshops, students explored the elegance and vibrancy of traditional Chinese painting. They discovered how ink and pigments blend into vivid patterns through the delicate combination of calligraphy techniques and fan painting, offering them an immersive experience of Chinese cultural charm.
The group also traveled to Suzhou on July 5 to experience the Jiangnan-style water towns, a region referring to the south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Highlights of the trip include the Suzhou Museum, Shantang Street, and the Eslite Bookstore.
On July 12, they visited the ancient town of Puyuan in Tongxiang, Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, where they gained an in-depth understanding of the region's historical heritage and cultural essence.
