This summer, a group of students from Thailand visited Shanghai Dianji University for a two-week cultural exploration and exchange.

On July 14, a welcome ceremony took place in the university, marking the start of the short-term study program. During the event, the participants learned about their itinerary and settled into campus life in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The modern facilities and hospitality of the faculty and students left a lasting impression on the Thai students, who looked forward to the cultural exploration ahead.

Highlights of the program included the "Magical Chinese" language course and hands-on traditional cultural workshops. Through these interactive activities, the thoughtfully designed curriculum offered students an immersive experience of the depth and richness of Chinese culture.

In the university gymnasium, students were captivated by a lion dance performance. The rhythmic beating of the drums, paired with the acrobatic movements of the performers, provided a vivid glimpse into China's vibrant folk traditions. The display captured the dynamic yet graceful essence of Eastern performing arts, leaving a strong impression on the audience.

They also explored classical Chinese arts, engaging in lacquer fan making, paper-cutting, calligraphy, and traditional ink painting. These hands-on experiences deepened their appreciation of the philosophical ideals of harmony and serenity at the heart of Chinese aesthetics.

Wearing hanfu, a traditional Chinese garment, the students learned traditional etiquette, experiencing the aesthetics of Chinese attire. A Chinese tea ceremony introduced them to the pursuit of harmony, tranquility, and authenticity.

As students paddled to the beat of drums, they embodied the spirit of teamwork captured by the Chinese idiom "crossing the river in the same boat" and connecting with the resilient spirit at the heart of Chinese tradition.

The program culminated on July 25 with a sharing session on their Chinese language experiences and a certificate presentation ceremony, followed by a farewell dinner that marked the end of their journey.
