Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area hosted the 2025 "Seed Future Lin-gang" talent program from Sept 27 to 28.

Five international students from Fudan University joined peers from Soochow University, the University of Science and Technology of China, East China University of Science and Technology, New York University Shanghai, and other institutions to explore this fast-developing international innovation hub.

While visiting the Lin-gang Planning Exhibition Center, students gained first-hand insight into the area's cutting-edge accomplishments in fields such as artificial intelligence, new energy, and biomedicine.

Students were impressed by the area's dedication to building a green future. From the low-carbon design of smart buses to the wide application of ecological principles across the district, Lin-gang proved itself not only a center of science and technology but also a leader in sustainable development.

The event also took students to the Shanghai Astronomy Museum to enjoy live music and fireworks performances and experience the unique charm of Lin-gang at night.

Over the two-day journey, participants expanded their knowledge and perspectives while building friendships with peers from various countries.

Student reflections

Tan Yi Jia (陈仪佳), Malaysia

Master's student, School of Journalism

Tan Yi Jia appreciated the opportunity to explore Shanghai's diverse high-tech industries and parks. The visit to the BTU digital nomad community made her appreciate Lin-gang’s efforts to create a supportive platform for young talent.

 

Mamyralieva Naira (辰雪), Kyrgyzstan

Undergraduate, School of Management

For Mamyralieva Naira, the event offered first-hand experience of the area's latest advancements in cutting-edge fields, which she found helpful to her academic studies. She also noted Lin-gang's convenient and livable environment for work and life.

 

Clairine Ivana Franetty Yong (杨玉玲), Timor-Leste

Undergraduate, School of Management

Over the two days, Clairine Ivana Franetty Yong discovered not only Lin-gang's modern and innovative side but also its unique appeal as a growing center of culture, technology, and lifestyle. She shared her experience with friends through vlogs, saying that Lin-gang offered international students many opportunities, helping them find dream jobs and build connections with companies and peers from various universities.
