The College of International Education at Shanghai University of Engineering Science organized two special cultural events on Oct 12 and 14, offering international students an immersive experience of China's traditional craftsmanship and modern fashion.

Students attended the Third Haipai Qipao Innovation Design Competition and the Atlas Silk Intangible Cultural Heritage New Product Launch, which were held at the Shanghai History Museum.

The qipao design competition captivated audiences with creative reinterpretations of the classic garment. Austin from Indonesia marveled at the seamless fusion of traditional Chinese dress with modern styles. During the fashion show exhibiting Xinjiang's Atlas silk, Shampa from Bangladesh said that she felt as if she could heard melodies from her homeland. Khalil, a student from Morocco, traveled from the Songjiang Campus to cheer for his friend in the competition, while Mesfer, a student from Ethiopia, joined the celebration wearing a qipao.

These events provide vivid and insightful lessons in aesthetic education and cross-cultural exchange. Through firsthand experience, students from diverse cultural backgrounds gained a deeper understanding of the unique charm of Chinese culture and developed a greater appreciation for Shanghai-style fashion.
