Students from East China Normal University recently participated in a cultural exploration along Sinan Road in Huangpu district, experiencing the historical charm of Shanghai.

They strolled along the road, visiting several iconic landmarks and learning about the Sinan Mansions architectural complex. They also learned the meaning of "contemplating the southern China's culture" behind the name "Sinan". Participants observed the historical garden houses and experienced the artistic and leisurely atmosphere of the plane tree-lined area.

Starting at the Sinan Mansions, the students began their cultural journey and research into local culture. They took group photos at historical spots, captured images of sites, and worked in teams to draw maps of different sections of Sinan Road, combining their efforts into a complete hand-drawn map of the area.

In Fuxing Park, the students conversed with local residents to learn about their daily lives, gaining a deeper understanding of the city's culture.

They also visited local stores along the road to complete tasks assigned by their teacher, such as locating specific items. They recorded product prices, took photos, and introduced their findings during a presentation session.

A short walk from Sinan Mansions took the students to Antique Garden Shanghai, a cafe housed in a renovated Western-style building that has been operating for 13 years. They practiced ordering in Chinese and asked about various coffee flavors, engaging with Shanghai's coffee culture and appreciating the city's nostalgic charm.

Back in the classroom, students shared reflections on their experiences through themed videos, detailed maps, and multimedia presentations.

The journey not only offered international students a closer look at daily life in China but also provided an opportunity to practice their language skills in real-life settings.
