Abizar Dirsan Gifari, an Indonesian master's student at Shanghai Ocean University and a member of the China-Indonesia Cooperative Project on Marine Ecological Ranching Technology, participated in the ASEAN-China Youth Roundtable on Marine Cooperation in Fuzhou, Fujian province, on Nov 17.

As one of the key events for the ASEAN-China Week 2025, the roundtable, themed "New Blue Forces to Forge a Shared Future", brought together young experts, scholars, entrepreneurs, and international students to discuss marine cooperation. It aimed to create a high-level platform for global youth, cultivate the next generation of marine talent, and promote partnerships in the blue economy.

The roundtable addressed topics such as marine sector policies in China and ASEAN, innovation and opportunities in marine industry cooperation, and the ways young people can engage in marine initiatives. It provided fresh ideas and practical solutions, while also highlighting the leading role and contributions of ASEAN youth in promoting exchange, peace, and development.

During the conference, Abizar shared his academic experience at Shanghai Ocean University. He used his involvement in the China-Indonesia cooperative project as a case study, detailing his research, learning, and fieldwork within the project.

Through collaborative initiatives between universities in both countries, he learned advanced marine technologies and industrial concepts, integrating them with Indonesia's social context to develop scientific plans that have supported his postgraduate research.

Beyond his academic achievements, he has served as a communicator between Chinese and Indonesian institutions, facilitating project handovers and participating in marine cooperation and exchanges between the two sides.

The China-Indonesia Cooperative Project on Marine Ecological Ranching Technology, jointly initiated by Shanghai Ocean University and Hasanuddin University, provides effective solutions for ecological restoration and fishery resource conservation in degraded marine habitats.
