Time-honored brand Baromon's fashion show sparkles on Nanjing Road
Bustling Nanjing Road in Shanghai was the venue for a fashion spectacle organized by Shanghai New World Co Ltd on March 1.
This was the Baromon 100th Anniversary Fashion Show, held at Century Plaza — an occasion held as part of the FIRST in Shanghai 2025 Spring series of events.

Founded in 1928, Baromon is a Chinese brand with nearly a century of history and it was one of the first Chinese time-honored brands to be recognized by the Ministry of Commerce. Known for its craftsmanship, timeless styles and elegant fabrics, Baromon has earned itself the reputation of being the "Cradle of Shanghai-style Suits" — an appellation that is cherished.
The event used the iconic century-old architecture as a backdrop, along with a green hill stage. Through five narrative scenes, high-tech multimedia and interactive displays, the show not only celebrated Shanghai's unique fashion culture — but also paid tribute to the city's 25th anniversary of the Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street.

The opening scene, called Years, took the audience back to the 1930s, bringing jazz and vintage fashion to life with silk gowns and classic suits.
The Youth section captured the spirit of the period immediately after the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949, with synchronized drum formations and the iconic Chinese tunic suit.
The finale featured a mesmerizing high-tech display, with models in high-end Baromon suits strutting through a kaleidoscope of lights and patterns and close-up views of intricate design details broadcast in real-time.

The show was widely praised for demonstrating how technology and heritage can blend seamlessly, bringing new life to Nanjing Road and marking a new chapter in the city's cultural and shopping scenes.
