Innovation hub aims to draw 150 tech firms and 12,000 talent to Shanghai Bay Area
The investment promotion and exhibition center of the Shanghai Bay Area East Lake International Innovation Center has opened. During the opening event, the first batch of enterprises deciding to establish a presence in the innovation center signed agreements.
Shanghai Saiko Intelligent Technology Co Ltd, which specializes in servo tightening and pressing technology, will be one of the new entrants. It provides products widely used in automotive, electronics, home appliances, aerospace, and other sectors. Its clients include leading companies such as SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, Toyota Motor Corporation and Huawei Technologies Co Ltd.
"This will serve as our company's headquarters in East China, integrating manufacturing, testing, exhibition, and office functions," said Yu Jian'an, the company's general manager.
The three-storey center has a total floor area of about 2,700 square meters, housing an exhibition hall, a multifunctional conference room, office areas, and a rooftop garden.
Inside the exhibition hall, multiple sections and detailed sandbox models systematically present the locational advantages, policy support, and supporting facilities of the Shanghai Bay Area Science and Technology Innovation City, as well as the industrial positioning and operational vision of the East Lake International Innovation Center.
The East Lake center is the first technology park in Shanghai with investment from Hubei United Investment East Lake High Technology Group.
Comprising five plots, the project is being constructed in three phases with a total investment of about 1.9 billion yuan ($265.73 million). It covers a total land area of about 10 hectares, providing flexible spaces ranging from 250 to 6,000 square meters for different types of enterprises. The first phase is expected to be delivered by the end of this year.
The park will focus on attracting businesses in intelligent equipment, life health, new materials, and information technology. When fully completed, it is projected to attract at least 150 sci-tech innovation enterprises, 30 corporate headquarters, and about 12,000 high-level talent, becoming a key industrial clustering platform for the development of the innovation city.
